Oral Surgery / Wisdom Teeth

Oral Surgery

Oral surgery is often times needed for more complex treatment plans including but not limited to: bone removal prior to dentures, wisdom teeth extraction, and surgical extractions. All of the following are offered at Hermosa Dental by our well-qualified team.

Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Wisdom teeth are considered your third molars. Typically wisdom teeth begin to develop at age 13 and finish at about age 17. This of course varies for each individual but is the general age range. The extraction of wisdom teeth early on can prevent both pain and possible oral infection. At Hermosa Dental a thorough exam, evaluation of x-rays, and review of medical history will be done in order to determine if wisdom tooth extraction is necessary for you!

Reasons your dentist may recommend wisdom tooth extraction:

  • Fully impacted wisdom teeth
  • Partially impacted wisdom teeth
  • Wisdom teeth causing periodontal problems
  • Wisdom teeth that are extremely difficult to keep clean
  • Wisdom teeth that are infected/decayed
  • Wisdom teeth causing pain

Oral Sedation

Oral Sedation is offered at Hermosa Dental. If you have extreme dental anxiety or would like to be more relaxed during procedures, this might be the option for you. Oral sedation is considered minimal sedation meaning that you will be “relaxed state”, yet conscious.

Reasons for Oral Sedation Dentistry:

  • A bad gag reflex
  • Extensive amount of dental work to be complete
  • Invasive dental work
  • Low pain threshold
  • Extreme fear and anxiety of being in the dental chair

Your dentist at Hermosa Dental will have detailed conversation with you about oral sedation if he/she believes this is a good option for you.
